You can lock and unlock the column with an easy twist mechanism. You get the same strength and solid locking under heavy loads.

This center column includes the latest components, such as a solid upper disc and hook. It has a safety catch feature that, when used with recent Systematic tripods that have a safety button, prevents the column from dropping out of the tripod, even if you accidentally leave it unlocked.
